Development Associate

Position Summary: 

The Development Associate is a key member of the development team responsible for implementing and organizing best practices associated with donor and gift management, executing annual giving activities, communicating achievements to donor base, and supporting the team through event support, volunteer training as needed.  

Time Commitment: Regular, exempt, full-time position, including some evenings and weekends. 

Location: North Minneapolis and St. Paul clinics, as well as off-site meetings or appointments as applicable. 

Supervision: Director of Development  

Essential Functions: 

Donor and Gift Management 

  1. Actively manage donor database 
  1. Perform all gift processing functions including gift entry, pledge and gift acknowledgement letters, and renewal/reminder notices 
  1. Prepare development reports from donor database  
  1. Manage online giving process and maintain updated electronic gift records 
  1. Manage records for grants management/reporting or other specialized needs 

Annual Giving and Communications Support 

  1. Assist the Director of Development with direct mail and electronic solicitations within the context of an established organizational communication and marketing strategy, including letter and collateral materials, segmentation, timing, newsletters/eNewsletter, and donor acknowledgement. 
  1. Plan and execute Abria’s social media sites including supporters website maintenance. 

Event Planning Support 

  1. Assist as needed with all Development events: Celebration Banquet, Fun Run, house parties, receptions, open houses, and clinic tours. 

Volunteer Coordination 

  1. Recruit and receive applications from prospective volunteers; share with appropriate departments for screening and placement by those departments. 
  1. Identify, train and manage all volunteers for Development activities and events.  
  1. Serve as liaison for Young Adult Network and work closely with group’s leadership to ensure goals of fundraising, volunteer recruitment and outreach are met.

Professional Skills:  

  • BA/BS degree, and 1-3 years of fundraising and/or professional related experience required. Superior writing and organization skills a necessity. Project and volunteer management experience required. Strong communication skills and ability to work with and motivate others very important. Proficiency with computer and constituent software sought. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Willingness to work nights and weekends, as required.
