What a Difference a Year — and YOU — Make!

When Aaliyah first came to Abria last November, she was navigating an incredibly difficult and uncertain time. She was in distress, trying to find safety and figure out what would come next. First, she needed to confirm that she was pregnant.

We didn’t know then what she would decide, but she seemed to be firm in her decision to end her pregnancy. She even left her prenatal vitamins behind, Abria nurse Tessa said. But in early December, she called Abria and asked if she could come back for them. In that moment, we learned that she had decided to parent.

When we surround a woman with love, care and support, the impact reaches so much further than one person. It touches her child. It touches fathers. It strengthens families. And it spreads into our entire community.
